Pub Talk

Leo Wim Cornel

My little tale,

Friday eavening, the best
day of the week, saturday and
sunday lay ahead !

In my Dutch pub:

After a few large beers:
Skumkoppes !
My mouth moves fast,
the gossip maker in me came up !

Next to me:
A very small person,
An English "highland dwarf"
A nice little fellow.
He asked me:
How tall are you Dutch ?
I said 1.97 meters.
He: is it than thru that where you
live you can drink right "standing
up" when the dikes break through
?
I: yes, my little frind, however not
in my pub,
we produce a lot of empty
floating beer barrels !
We Dutch,
Work hard you know !
He: well I am small, can't drink
that much, but I can
surely put my finger in the hole of
the dike !
All to prevent you getting
"standing up", dronk !

I: please don't do me any favor's,
Little man,
Your hart is much "taller" than my
thirst !
It is not for nothing that the "Low
land Dutch" are so tall, they feel
very handy and comfortable with
that !

After a while,

The dwarf gave me,
His best smile,
He understand me,
raised his glass,
with his little fists:
Cheers this eavening my
good friend !

In England we do not need to be
that tall ! You are right : We all are
big harted.
