A parent and a child
The smell of fresh cement and wet concrete
Reminds me of the one that I would have loved to meet
from adult to adult, but in the blink of an eye
You left fully unexpected with no chance to say goodbye
And no chance to get to know you except as the father to a child
No grandparents, not a father, just a mother by our side.
Their legacy is present in creative DNA
How I wish I could show them on this very day
