My Past

I had to learned to live again oh yeah
Broken pieces of my past everywhere
Lonely and afraid I stood, no friends to hold my hand
Bullied in this cruel world, lost without a plan
Had to walk that long hard road until the core
Now I’m here stronger than before

Although my past is behind and the shadows fade
I had to learn to forgive even though I felt betrayed
Many dark nights were filled with sad tears
My childhood was lonely and filled with fears
As a broken child, with lost dreams, I couldn't always see
But with age, I’ve learned to rise in clarity

My struggles made me who I am
I have fought through fire to understand
That time can heal shattered hearts and wounds
And that at time life can also have good sounds
Now I hold my head high, nothing stands in my way
Every step is a victory, I feel the power every day

All my pain and sorrow turns to the light
Blown away from the darkest night
Once I was lonely but I’ve found a love so pure and bright
Which now makes my life feels alright
The world can try to bring me down
But I'll just rise up again from the ground

And then, you came, my knight on a white horse
You embraced my pain and fears
Your love made me feel the force
You told me to hold my head high, wiped away my tears
You laid a whole new world at my feet
Now with my past behind me, life feels so complete

No more long lonely nights of crying
No more endless sadness ore pain
No more broken wings, I can keep flying
Because my sunshine came after the rain
I've learned to rise above, stronger with every step
That life is a precious gift with promises I've kept
