The hedgehog's dream
I can't hear little birds twitter
in my still and quiet wintergrounds
not te be awakened by barking dogs and hounds
just leave me here in silent isolation
I dream my dreams away in hibernation
without whatsoever no hesitation
wondering and meditating 'bout a nice wife
in spring to come, and a bunch of prickly kids
and going back to the wildlife
not to be run over by a motorcar
not to be eaten by a jaguar
I'm a hedgehog, you know, with a nice set of spines
I've got me a nephew who lives amongst the porcupines.
