Drowning

Vividly

Within that moment,
The ground beneath me was no longer solid,
My body sank deeper every second,
The pressure kept pushing me down,
No idea what it would feel like to drown,
Until my mouth was filled with all but air,
All alone and broken in complete solitair,
My lungs trying to save my last-taken breath,
Being my own victim of this living death
Every blood vessel in my body trying to subsist,
But maybe it's just easier not to resist,
Perhaps I should just allow the water in,
And let the pain pass through my skin.
